If it's a cold, windy, and rainy day in early March, most people wouldn't be standing outside in those condition unless they had to. It was 22°F (with a wind chill of about 19°F) and where was I and hundreds of other die hard metal heads!? Standing outside of The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA to see Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, Aeon, and Tribulation. By the time they venue doors opened I couldn't feel my hands or face...but oh was it worth it!
As most metal shows usually are, there was a strong sense of belonging and "brotherhood" in the air. The first band had not even taken the stage yet and the place was packed! So, I did my usual routine of grabbing a beer and loading up on merch. All four bands had a descent selection of merch. Some bands items ranging from CDs to women's underwear. I was able to get some killer merch that I am glad I did not pass up on.
Tribulation were first to take the stage and I was very pleased with their performance. They had a great stage presence and the lighting effects with their corpse paint and logo backdrop added to the blackness of their music. I look forward to hearing their next release, "The Children Of The Night", due out April 21, 2015 via Century Media Records.
Next to perform was Aeon. And this of course was a no nonsense, straight to the point, in your facing brutal death metal performance. Their albums are brutal and blasphemous but seeing and hearing their songs performed live take it to an entirely differently level that always makes for an incredible set! After their set was done the members were selling their own merch and taking pics and just hanging out with the fans, which gave me a chance to meet Tommy Dahlström, the lead singer.
Oh what can I say about the next act, Cannibal Corpse, that hasn't been said already! This was my fourth time seeing them and I will never grow tired of seeing them perform! The brutality and Corpsegrinder's sense of humor and interaction with the crowd are what makes their sets even more enjoyable! I hate I missed the VIP package for this show cause the CC guys are always great to chat with before the show.
Ahhhh and now for my thoughts of Behemoth...I will do my best to describe their set to you, but it is very difficult to describe! The atmosphere, energy, and visuals of their set were so powerful that words can not even begin to do it justice! I can tell you that if you are a fan of them and have not seen them live, you HAVE to see them at least once! I will never miss a Behemoth show as long as they keep touring if I can help it. Seeing and hearing them live has literally changed my life! I can not describe what it has done inside of me but I wouldn't change it for anything. This is a show that will I will talk about for the rest of my life and I hope I can experience seeing them more in the future!
I have no complaints about the the line up or performances whatsoever. Horns up to everyone who made this tour possible and to each and every band member and crew person behind the scenes working your asses off to give us fans a show to remember! And Toni, thank you for all the opportunities you have presented me with and it is a privilege to work with you!
